Dark Tree

Sec feigned an air of surprise and awe when they finally came upon the rune stone they’d been told about the day before. The village elder who had drawn out the barely usable map for them had said the stone had been there for hundreds of years, and that the trees near grew so large because of dark magic emanating from the void black stone at its center.

Well at least he was right about why the trees were so big, not so much about the evil magic part though and it was more like thousands of years not hundreds. Actually roughly 7000 years if Sec’s math was right, she remembered etching those runes into the monolith with her own hand. She’d also been the one to infuse the nite stone with a particularly dense matrix of nite dust.
